Candles are a basic way of creating a mood in any space, but in order to use them outside they should be placed inside an outdoor lantern. The Faroles collection came about as a way to turn this legendary object on its head and provide something else. We offer a whole range, with up to seven formats and sizes that not only protect the candle, but also serve as a decorative feature. Not only at night, but also during the day! And especially if you choose one of the more colourful models.
These are the three vertical outdoor lanterns in the collection, which also includes three other square designs and one horizontal design. Their base measures 20 x 20 cm and you can choose from three different heights: 40, 50 or 60 cm. Each of these can be used to create a very different atmosphere, lighting anything from a table to a track or a chill-out area. The lanterns are portable and are made with an anodised aluminium profile and white, transparent or coloured perspex surfaces.
Diabla tips:These lanterns are perfect if you don’t have an electrical installation in your outdoor area. The larger models in particular practically serve as a lamp.
With the smaller designs you can light tables and with the larger ones passageways, loungers and outdoor lounges. If you are going to use several, they don’t all have to be the same size; imagine a track lit by several lanterns of increasing sizes.
Likewise, in compositions with different models, they don’t all need to have the same shape. Be bold and mix square with vertical. In fact, these go very well with the square design measuring 20 x 20 cm.
If your house looks onto the outdoor area where you are going to put them, switch them on at night even if you’re in the house and enjoy the mood they create.
José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales
“I'm a big fan of the outdoor life in the Mediterranean, where I was born. For me, good design should be stripped back, timeless, harmonious and functional, these are the qualities I try to work on as a designer. Beyond an elegant, minimalist look, I like to think about the constructive possibilities of my designs, that's why I tend to work with architects. I find inspiration in anything that excites me, whether it's architecture, painting, sculpture, dance or nature. I suppose my personality is another factor that gives my designs their distinctive look”.
José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales is Chairman and Artistic Director of GANDIABLASCO. He belongs to the second generation to head the company and in the nineties he was the one who led the firm in its shift towards contemporary design and internationalisation. In addition to continuing with the textile products business inherited from his father, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales also began exploring the possibility of starting up a parallel range of specialist outdoor furniture and accessories.
Ever since he joined the company, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales has been driving forward its steady progress towards contemporary design, both in terms of products and the brand. Working alongside designers Marisa Gallén and Sandra Figuerola, he renovated the company's image, introducing the current logo based on the stylised silhouette of a cat. However, it was building his summer house in Ibiza in 1996 and needing to source outdoor furniture that fitted in with its architectural style that prompted José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales's first venture into furniture design. He worked alongside the architect to develop the Na Xemena collection, which would be the basis of GANDIABLASCO's future incursion into the world of contemporary outdoor furniture.
Owing to the great reception of the company's first outdoor furniture collections in the market, production was later split into two brands: GANDIABLASCO specialising in outdoor products and GAN in textile items. Diabla is the third brand set up by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and is his most recent business project. With an imaginative and visionary style with undeniable Mediterranean influences, he has produced many furniture and accessory designs over the years for both GANDIABLASCO and GAN. He is behind the creation of a major part of the Diabla collection with pieces like Lipstick, Clip, Picnic and Clack!
