The Valencian studio brings the Mediterranean lifestyle to imm Cologne 2020
It was about time! For the first time, the iconic Das Haus installation that is presented annually at imm Cologne has been designed by a Spanish studio and Diabla has been part of it.
The designers of Das Haus 2020? Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón, founders of the MUT Design studio. The young Valencian studio, which regularly collaborates with the Gandia Blasco Group, has staged the contemporary version of a Mediterranean house open to the outside in an innovative project whose name “A la fresca", refers to the classic Valencian barracks.
Where and when? He was exposed during the imm Cologne 2020 fair on January 13-19.
An architectural tribute to the customs of the Mediterranean
Mut Design's proposal for Das Haus 2020 expresses the most personal and visionary point of view of the Valencian study. “A la fresca” explores the interior design as an extension of the outer space in a hybrid house open to nature that shows within the same space the duality of community life with privacy. The design is divided into four areas where there are practically no physical boundaries: one for cooking, another for recreation, a third for services and a last to rest.
And what does diabla has to do with all of this? The first prototypes of the GRILL collection designed by MUT for Diabla are part of the kitchen space. These are 100% aluminum chairs inspired by iron grills for roasting meat.
And never better said, they put all the meat on the grill! Open on the sides to let in natural light in all its rooms, Das Haus 2020 is reminiscent of a classic pavilion: formed by the combination of a circle and a square with a large glass facade, and is inspired by the Mediterranean architecture of the barracks of the Valencian Albufera. Its own name, "A la fresca" indicates that outdoor tribute that refers to the culture that still persists in the Mediterranean villages to get together, during the summer months, in the streets and squares to sit and chat between friends and neighbors while enjoying the afternoon breeze that calms the suffocating heat.
It accompanies the architectural proposal Das Haus by MUT Design, a selection of design furniture in each space of the project that maintain the Mediterranean essence such as the first prototypes of the GRILL chairs for DIABLA, the award-winning PLY carpets that the Valencian studio has designed for GAN, and the contemporary aesthetic pitchers LA SIESTA by GANDIABLASCO designed by Alberto Martínez, Raky Martínez and Héctor Serrano.
But what about the MUT collection for Diabla? You will be able to see it complete in Milan during the Salone del Mobile 2020.
GRILL is coming soon!!!
